Adventures in Voice Application Tools and Development

The buzz word these days is “cloud,” and LiveOps has adopted “cloudsourcing” in its LiveWork service where businesses can find teams to fulfill resource needs, and workers (agents) can easily find projects suitable for their skills and pay grade. It’s sort of like eBay for BPO (business process outsourcing). It fits the LiveOps’ business model and technology platform where contact centers and agents are virtualized.

Now LiveWork has released an API to allow third party applications to tap into the data on its platform. But more importantly, it has already found an early adopter, CrowdFlower. Not many people probably have heard of CrowdFlower yet, but it was one of the 50 finalists in the recent (just concluded yesterday) TechCrunch50 competition where startups compete for a $50,000 prize and $1M in advertising from TechCrunch50 partners.

CrowdFlower didn’t win the prize, but just being featured at TechCrunch50 no doubt gave it an PR advantage. (Other famous TechCrunch50 alumni includes Mint, which Intuit has announced to acquire for $170M on Monday, and TripIt, an online travel organizer.) LiveOps/LiveWork is probably very glad that one of its first API users made it to TechCrunch50.

Will the publicized LiveWork API maintain momentum by attracting prominent contact center vendors, perhaps WFM (workforce management) software makers? Or even human resource management software vendors?
