If anyone still doesn’t believe in speech technology becoming part of our lives, Apple today announced a new iPod Shuffle with TTS features to read the playlists, artist names, and song names in multiple languages. This is on the heels of Amazon’s Kindle 2 release which has TTS to read ebooks to the user.
I’m waiting for the day when my fridge will talk to me about what foods it has inside or my pantry telling me what snacks I still have. That day will come soon, I think… soon.
